Our Mission Statement

Women's Empowerment Street Team members (WE) are Etsy sellers dedicated to encouraging artistic empowerment for women and girls worldwide.

WE would like to help each and every woman and girl to:
  • discover and develop her own strengths and creative talents,

  • explore and express her creativity,

  • speak with her own unique voice, believe in herself, and achieve her potential.

WE will achieve our goals through encouraging and supporting our members to:
  • create art that celebrates womanhood and girlhood

  • donate time, money, and/or supplies to charitable organizations, of their choice, that support women's resources

  • be a visible presence at street fairs, art/crafts shows, charity walks, and other events that work towards the above goals

  • teach and mentor other women and girls respect herself and choose to surround herself with those who respect her, too

Madeleine Peyroux

When you first hear her voice it brings you back to smoky nightclubs, scratchy records and the slow soothing vibes of Billie Holiday and Edith Piaf. The last thing you expect is for someone to tell you this young woman is a contemporary artist. Her latest album, Half the Perfect World was just released in 2006. From her dreamy original work to her poignant covers Peyroux has a way of bewitching you as every lyric passes her lips. In her 2004 album, Careless Love, Peyroux covers the famous Elliott Smith song, Between the Bars with perfect intensity. She can also be found covering the likes of Tom Waits, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. The music of Madeleine Peyroux deserves a close and careful listen. After which it is sure to find it's way into your favorites collection.
